Cierva is one of the themes of Song of the Balcones.  On April 25, 1831, James Bowie married  Maria Ursula Veramendi, daughter of the vice-governor of Coahuila-Texas.  According to legend, Bowie also took a Native American bride, daughter of Apache chief Xolic.  I have given this maiden the name Cierva.  Since her story is tragic, this music ends in lament.  During a KUT-FM broadcast in 1988, I heard Beth Kelly sing the Native American song that I adapt here.  My first attempt at ProTools, this recording serves as sound track for the Kitchen Mesa video of the Ghost Ranch Multi Media Group.  I will post improved recordings of Cierva.
